Taxi drivers make a promise
What don't you like about Bangkok taxi drivers?
The answer you will hear most often is that many drivers refuse to take passengers where they want to go. They aren't supposed to do this, but they do.
Often, they give no explanation. They just shake their heads "no" and drive away.
Sometimes they say they don't have time because they have to return their taxis.
Other times, they say they don't have enough fuel.
The government wants to change this. Today, the Royal Thai Army started giving out sunshades with a message on it.
A cabbie puts his new sunshade in a window.
The message promised that the taxi driver would go to any destination and there would be no refusals.
About 100 taxi drivers received their sunshades today.
There are tens of thousands of taxi drivers in Bangkok, however. How many of them will make the same promise?
