ผมไปเจอลิงค์นี้ Synonyms for the 96 most commonly used words in English ซึ่งเขารวบรวมคำศัพท์ภาษาอังกฤษ 96 คำที่เราเจอบ่อย-ใช้บ่อยสุด โดยแต่ละคำก็มี synonym หรือเหมือน-คำคล้าย ที่น่าสนใจ แนบมาให้ดูด้วย

ที่ผมบอกว่าน่าสนใจก็เพราะว่า ศัพท์ 96 คำนี้เราอ่านเจอบ่อยมาก และเวลาที่เราจะพูดหรือเขียนภาษาอังกฤษ เราก็ใช้คำพวกนี้แหละสื่อความหมายที่อยู่ในใจ แต่เรื่องของเรื่องก็คือว่า ศัพท์ที่เราใช้มันอาจจะสามัญ พื้น ๆ เกินไป จนไม่น่าสนใจ ไม่เร้าความรู้สึก หรือไม่ได้แสดงลักษณะเฉพาะของสิ่งที่เราต้องการสื่อ แต่ถ้าเราใช้คำเหมือนหรือคำคล้าย หรือ synonym ที่มันคมหรือเจาะจงยิ่งขึ้น การสื่อสารของเราก็จะมีพลังมากกว่าเดิม
Synonym ในลิงค์นี้ ที่น่าสนใจกว่าหลายลิงค์ที่ผมเคยเจอมาก็คือ คำใน list ที่เขาแสดงนั้นก็เป็นคำที่เราเจอบ่อยเช่นกัน เขาไม่ได้ไปขุดคำโบราณที่เราไม่เคยเห็นมาให้เราศึกษา

ตามตัวอย่างข้างบนนี้ ท่านที่รู้ศัพท์เยอะคงจะเห็นเหมือนผมว่า ตอนที่เราอ่านข้อความที่ฝรั่งซึ่งมีการศึกษาเขียน เขาก็ใช้ศัพท์หลากหลายอย่างนี้แหละ แต่เราซึ่งไม่ได้เป็น native speaker เมื่อพูดหรือเขียน เราก็มักใช้คำง่าย ๆ ที่เป็นตัวแดง แต่ถ้าเราฝึกใช้คำอื่นได้อย่างถูกต้องและหลากหลายมากขึ้น ก็เป็นเรื่องดี
สำหรับคุณครู ผมว่าถ้าให้เด็ก ๆ ไปหาหรือแต่งประโยคตัวอย่างที่ใช้คำ synonym ก็น่าจะเป็นการฝึกที่ดีสำหรับเด็ก
