How to talk to Farang.
เคยรู้สึกกันแบบนี้ไหมครับ
Have you ever felt this way?
"จริงๆก็พอจะพูดได้นะภาษาอังกฤษเนี้ยะ แต่ไม่รู้จะคุยอะไร"
" I actually can speak a bit of English but I don't know what to say".
ผมจะบอกให้ครับ เวลาผมคุยกับฝรั่งทุกครั้งเขาจะบอกผมว่า
Let me tell you , every time I talk to Farang they always tell me that
"เฟิร์น คุยกับยูแล้วสนุกมากเลย ยูคุยเก่งมาก"
" Fern, it is really fun talking to you, you are a very talkative".
ในความเป็นจริงผมแทบไม่ได้พูดอะไรมาก ผมแค่ถามอย่างเดียว
As the matter of fact, I don't normally talk a lot. I only ask a lot of questions.
การเรียนภาษาเราจะแค่เรียนออกเสียงหรือท่องเป็นนกแก้วนกขุนทองเฉยๆไม่ได้
We can't only learn English by pronunciation or memorising like a parrot.
มันต้องรู้เขารู้เรา คือต้องรู้จักวัฒนธรรมของเขาด้วย
We need to know the way they think which is by understanding their cultures.
ฝรั่งส่วนใหญ่พูดเก่งมากๆ แล้วจะค่อนข้างชอบเล่าเรื่องของตัวเองโดยไม่ต้องถูกถามก่อน
Most Farang are talkative and willing to talk about their stories without being asked.
ผิดกับคนไทยที่ไม่สนิทจริงๆหรือไม่ถามก็จะไม่พูด ฝรั่งเขาถึงชอบว่าคนไทยเงียบ
Unlike Thai people, we will not talk about it if we are not very closed or asked before. That is why Farang think that Thai people are quiet.
เวลาผมคุยกับฝรั่ง ผมจะมีคำถามที่ใช้ประจำอยู่พอสมควร
When I talk to Farang, I have a set of questions that I normally use.
มากพอที่ฝรั่งจะนั่งคุยกับผมได้ถึงเช้าเลย
It is enough to hold a conversation until the next morning.
ดังนั้นไม่ต้องกลัวนะครับว่าไม่รู้จะพูดอะไร ตอนแรกๆแค่ถามให้เป็นแล้วก็พยายามเป็นผู้ฟังที่ดี
So you don't have to be afraid that you will not know what to say. You can start off by asking questions and being a good listener.
ไม่เข้าใจก็ยืนยิ้มไปครับ อย่าเดินหนีเพราะถ้าคุณหนีแล้วเมื่อไรจะเป็นล่ะครับ
If you don't understand, just keep standing there and smiling because you will never learn if you walk away.
ประโยคที่เอาไว้คุยกับฝรั่งที่มาเที่ยวเมืองไทยนะครับ

Where are you from? มาจากไหน
Have you been to Thailand before? เคยมาเมืองไทยมาก่อนไหมครับ
How long will you stay in Thailand จะอยู่เมืองไทยนานแค่ไหนครับ
What do you plan to see หรือ where do you plan to go during your stay in Thailand ? วางแผนจะทำอะไรหรือจะไปไหนบ้างครับระหว่างที่อยู่เมืองไทย
Do you like Thai food? ชอบอาหารไทยไหม
What is your favorite Thai dish? ชอบทานอาหารไทยอะไร
Have you tried _________? ลองทาน________รึยังครับ (ชื่ออาหาร)
How is the weather here, too hot for you? อากาศที่นี่ร้อนไปไหม
What is the weather like in your country? แล้วประเทศของคุณอากาศเป็นไงบ้างครับ
What do you do back home, work or study? คุณทำอะไรที่ประเทศคุณ ทำงานหรือเรียน
Have you been traveling a lot? เดินทางท่องเที่ยวบ่อยไหมครับ
Where else have you been? แล้วไปเที่ยวประเทศไหนมาแล้วบ้างครับ
Which one do you like best so far? แล้วชอบที่ไหนมากที่สุดล่ะครับ
เอาแค่นี้ก่อนก็แล้วกัน ยังมีอีกเยอะแค่นี้ก็คุยกับฝรั่งได้เป็นชั่วโมงแล้วครับ
I think we have enough for today, it should be cool to talk for a few hours with these questions.
