       เชื่อว่าท่านคงทราบมาบ้างแล้วว่า มีศัพท์บางคำเป็นทั้ง noun และ verb แต่จะ stress ต่างกัน โดย noun จะ stress ที่พยางค์แรก แต่ verb จะ stress ที่พยางค์ที่สอง แต่เรื่องที่บางท่านอาจจะไม่ได้สังเกตก็คือ
[1] บางครั้ง noun กับ verb มีความหมายเหมือน ๆ กัน เช่น คำว่า decrease
decrease (n.)
Fewer people got married in Scotland and England in 2017, the first decrease (การลดลง) in marriages since 2002.
decrease (v.)
People should decrease (ลด) the amount of junk food they eat.
หรือบางทีความหมายไม่ได้เหมือนกันเด๊ะ แต่ก็ไปในทางเดียวกัน เช่น คำว่า accent
accent (n.)
In the word 'dinner' the accent (การลงเสียงเน้นหนัก) is on the first syllable.
accent (v.)
Use make-up to accent (เน้นให้เห็นชัด) your cheekbones and eyes.
[2] แต่ว่าบางที noun กับ verb มีความหมายต่างกันไปเลย เช่น
object (n.)
Never pick up heavy objects (วัตถุ) without bending your knees.
object (v.)
Many people objected to (คัดค้าน) the new scheme.
