ศึกษาคำศัพท์ที่พบบ่อยพร้อมประโยคตัวอย่าง (ทั้งศัพท์พื้นฐาน และศัพท์ยาก) แสดงในหน้าเดียว
สวัสดีครับ
คำศัพท์ที่พบบ่อยพร้อมประโยคตัวอย่าง (ทั้งศัพท์พื้นฐาน และศัพท์ยาก) ซึ่งแสดงในหน้าเดียว ที่ผมนำมาฝากท่านข้างล่างนี้ ท่านอาจจะรู้สึกว่า เป็นบทเรียนที่ไม่น่าเรียน เพราะคำแปลไทยก็ไม่มีให้ดู ท่านต้องอ่านเอง, ต้องตีความเอง เปรียบเทียบง่าย ๆ ก็คือ เป็นอาหารที่เคี้ยวยาก และกินไม่อร่อย
แต่ผมขอแนะว่า ถ้าเราต้องการเก่งภาษาอังกฤษให้มากกว่าที่เป็นอยู่ เราก็ต้องยอมรับและตั้งใจฝึกกับของยาก ๆ อย่างนี้บ้าง เหมือนจะขึ้นยอดเขาที่ไม่มีกระเช้าไฟฟ้า หรือขึ้นชั้นสูงของตึกที่ไม่มีลิฟต์ ถ้าเราไม่ยอมออกแรงเดิน – ไม่ยอมเหนื่อย ก็คงขึ้นไม่ถึงยอดเขาหรือยอดตึก และก็คงมีแต่คนที่ยอมเหนื่อยเท่านั้นที่เดินถึงที่หมาย
มีตำราเรียนคำศัพท์ซึ่งวางขายหลายเล่มในร้านหนังสือ ที่มีทั้งประโยคตัวอย่างภาษาอังกฤษแถมแปลประโยคเหล่านั้นเป็นภาษาไทยให้อีกด้วย ตำราทำนองนี้แม้ข้อดีคืออ่านรู้เรื่องเข้าใจง่าย แต่ข้อเสียที่โหดร้ายที่สุดก็คือ มันป้อนผู้เรียนมากเกินไป ทำให้ผู้เรียนไม่ได้ออกแรงในการอ่าน, เดา, ตีความ มันช่วยให้เราเข้าใจแต่ไม่ช่วยพัฒนา
ความสำเร็จย่อมบำเรอเฉพาะคนใจเด็ดเท่านั้น ! ใจเด็ดยอมเรียนกับเรื่องที่ยาก !

ศัพท์ ป.6, ม.3, ม.6 – ศัพท์พื้นฐานที่ควรรู้ และวิธีเรียนรู้ที่ถูกต้อง
สวัสดีครับ
ศัพท์พื้นฐานระดับ ป.6, ม.3, ม.6 นี่แหละครับ ถ้าเราแม่นก็จะเป็นพื้นฐานให้ทักษะภาษาอังกฤษของเราก้าวหน้าได้เยอะทีเดียว
จากงานวิจัยของ ดร.อัครพนท์ เนื้อไม้หอม ซึ่งท่านได้รวบรวมคำศัพท์จากตำราเรียนภาษาอังกฤษระดับชั้น ป.6, ม.3 และ ม.6 รวม 45 เล่ม ออกมาเป็นรายการคำศัพท์ ดังนี้
ถ้าเราแม่นและแน่นในคำศัพท์พื้นฐานเหล่านี้ อนาคตในการใช้ภาษาอังกฤษของเราก็จะไปได้สวย
แต่ท่านอย่าได้เข้าใจผิดว่าคำว่าแม่นและแน่นคือจำคำแปลศัพท์ได้เยอะ ๆ หรือจำได้หมดทุกคำ หลายคนที่มี “มิจฉาทิฐิ” เกี่ยวกับคำศัพท์เช่นนี้ก็จะตั้งหน้าตั้งตาท่องอัดคำศัพท์เข้าไปในสมองให้ได้เยอะ ๆ และวาดความหวังว่า ถ้ารู้ศัพท์เยอะเป็นทุนตุนไว้ก่อน เรื่องอื่น ๆ ก็จะง่าย และไม่ต้องไปใส่ใจมากนักก็ได้
ผลเสียที่เห็นได้ง่าย ๆ ของความเห็นผิดและการฝึกผิด ๆ เช่นนี้ก็คือ
(1)การท่องอัดเข้าไปในสมองเป็นการจำที่ด้อยประสิทธิภาพ เพราะลอนสมองส่วนที่ใช้จำมันรับได้จำกัด - นี่หมายถึงการเอาแต่ท่องอย่างเดียวโดยไม่ฝึกอย่างอื่นเลย
(2)แม้จำคำแปลได้ก็อาจจะติดขัดถ้าไม่สามารถใช้ศัพท์นั้นแต่งประโยคตอนที่จะพูดหรือเขียน ส่วนในการอ่าน แม้ว่ารู้คำแปลศัพท์เป็นคำ ๆ แต่พอไปเจอศัพท์นั้นในประโยคที่ซับซ้อนสักหน่อย ก็อาจจะตีความไม่ออกว่าทั้งประโยคมันหมายความว่ายังไง
ท่านผู้อ่านครับ ผมเชื่อว่าในสมองของคนเรามีหลายลอนที่ใช้ทำงานเกี่ยวกับคำศัพท์ เช่น ลอนที่ 1 ใช้ท่องจำศัพท์ใหม่, ลอนที่ 2 ใช้ทบทวนศัพท์เก่า, ลอนที่ 3 ใช้เดาศัพท์ที่ไม่รู้จักหรือไม่แน่ใจ, ลอนที่ 4 ใช้ตีความ, ลอนที่ 5 ใช้ประมวลความเข้าใจที่ได้อ่านและฟัง, ลอนที่ 6 ใช้ตัดสินใจเลือกศัพท์ที่จำได้อกมาใช้พูดและเขียน และน่าจะมีลอนที่ 7 ลอนที่ 8 ....ที่ทำหน้าที่อื่น ๆ อีกหลายอย่างเกี่ยวกับคำศัพท์
แต่เรื่องที่น่าเศร้าใจสุด ๆ ก็คือว่า เด็กไทย-คนไทย จำนวนไม่น้อย เชื่อฝังใจว่า ขอเพียงใช้สมองลอนที่ 1 ทำงานโดยการท่องจำไปก่อน ส่วนสมองลอนอื่น ๆ ยังไม่ต้องให้มันทำงานก็ได้ พอคิดเช่นนี้ก็ละเลยการฝึกอ่าน การฝึกฟัง เพื่อฝึกเดา ฝึกตีความ ฝึกสรุปใจความ ฯลฯ ซึ่งผลที่ตามมาก็คือ ทำให้การพูด-การเขียนแย่ไปด้วย เพราะว่าถ้อยคำที่จะพูดผ่านปากและเขียนผ่านมือนั้น ต้นทางมันอยู่ที่สมอง ในเมื่อสมองมันมีเป็นสิบ ๆ ลอน แต่เราใช้ให้มันทำงานแค่ลอนเดียว คือท่อง... ท่อง... และท่อง .. โดยไม่ฝึกให้มันทำอย่างอื่น พอถึงเวลาที่ต้องทำงาน มันก็ย่อมทำไม่ไม่ได้เป็นธรรมดา
เอาละครับ ผมขอย้อนกลับมาเรื่องรายการคำศัพท์ที่ ดร.อัครพนท์ เนื้อไม้หอม ได้รวบรวมไว้ คือผมมีความตั้งใจว่า นอกจากนำคำศัพท์ + คำแปล เหล่านั้นมาให้ท่านศึกษาแล้ว ผมยังขอแนะนำให้ท่านได้ฝึกทำความคุ้นเคยกับคำศัพท์ให้มากยิ่งขึ้นโดย
- การอ่านคำจำกัดความหรือ definition เป็นภาษาอังกฤษ,
- ศึกษาประโยคตัวอย่าง ซึ่งช่วยแสดงการใช้คำศัพท์นั้น ๆ ในการพูดและเขียน และ
- คลิกฟังเสียงอ่านคำศัพท์ให้คุ้นหู และฝึกออกเสียงตามให้คุ้นปาก

วิธีใช้ก็คือ เมื่อเข้าไปในหน้าคำศัพท์ข้างล่างนี้แล้ว ให้ท่านดับเบิ้ลคลิกคำศัพท์ที่ต้องการจะศึกษา พยายามเรียนรู้ครั้งละคำสองคำไปเรื่อย ๆ จนรู้จักและเข้าใจทุกคำ ท่านไม่ต้องรีบร้อนในการเรียนรู้ แต่ให้เรียนทุกวันด้วยความตั้งใจและสมาธิ
